Ebenezer Lutheran Church

A welcoming and inclusive congregation.

What We Believe

The church confesses the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The church confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and the Gospel as the power of God for the salvation of all who believe Jesus Christ is the Word of God incarnate, through whom everything was made and through whose life, death, and resurrection God fashions a new creation.

This church accepts the Apostles', Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds as true declarations of the faith of this church.

Who We Are

Welcome! Looking for a “church near me”? Well, look no farther! We are Ebenezer Lutheran Church, and we are located at 222 W. Main Street, Marion VA. You can find us across from the fire department! Our Pastor is the Rev. Kayla Keilholtz and if you would like to get a hold of Pastor Kayla directly her work cell phone number is 804-396-3324 and her email address is pastorkaylakeilholtz@outlook.com. We have worship every Sunday at 10:00am and we believe that ALL are welcome at the table of Christ. Our online church service can be found via our Facebook page. We have communion every Sunday with both wine and grape juice, and ALL are welcome to come forward for communion. Ebenezer is a warm and welcoming congregation that would love to welcome you into our faith community! Children are welcome and encouraged to stay during the whole service! God put the giggle and the wiggle and sometimes the tears and the tantrums into children; they are still wanted and welcome in church. Pastor Kayla will just talk louder!

Every 4th Sunday of the month we have dinner church at 5:30pm in the basement of the church. Dinner church is a relaxed, casual time to share in a meal, meditate and delve into conversations surrounding faith and scripture. People are invited to bring a dish to share, if you do not have time to make or pick up something don’t worry about it! Bring yourself and enjoy the conversations, there is always more than enough food to share!

As often as possible Pastor Kayla spends her Monday mornings from 9:00am-11:00am at Starbucks for coffee shop hours. She is there for those two hours as a chance to be out in the community and offer a time of prayer and conversation outside of the church office. If you are in need of prayer or a listening ear stop by and see her!

Our Church’s office hours are Monday – Friday, 9:00am-1:00pm. If you would like to get in touch with us our phone number is 276-783-3241 and the church’s office email address is ebenezerlutheran@gmail.com. We encourage you to reach out to us with any and all questions!

Why Ebenezer?

Ever wonder why members choose the church they attend? We asked some of our members to speak about their WHY during service, and they have given the okay to share here, so others can see WHY EBENEZER.

General Church Information

What does a normal service look like? Normal service will include prayer, readings from the Bible (2 readings, a Psalm, and a reading from the Gospels), communion, traditional hymns, recite of the Apostols’ Creed and the Lord’s Prayer, and a sermon from Pastor Kayla. We have bulletins printed each week and inside will tell you what to expect from the service and in what order everything will take place. We also have the readings printed in the bulletins so that you can follow along!

What is Communion? Lutherans believe that Jesus Christ is truly present in the meal we call Holy Communion, among other names. We believe that at Christ’s Last Supper, he took the bread and commanded his disciples to “take and eat.” Likewise, he took a cup of wine, blessed it by giving thanks, and gave it for them to drink. Ebenezer Lutheran Church practices weekly communion in which bread (Body of Christ) and wine (Blood of Christ) are consumed in remembrance of Christ.

What if I’m not Lutheran? Or a Christian? Am I still welcome? Of course! We welcome all! The Church is called to be the hands and feet of Christ out in the world, part of that call is being a welcoming, inclusive, and safe space for all people.
